Poetry Every Day Keeps Winter's Chill Away

Welcome, Poetry Paraders!  Every school day, Poetry on Parade will feature a different theme.  We'll introduce it on Lafayette Live and then continue the conversation here.  We invite everyone in the Lafayette community to get involved.

We'll share links to good poetry Websites, highlight classroom poetry activities, celebrate Poetry Fridays, and publish original work by Lafayette's own resident poets.  We'll also talk about upcoming March visits from poet Brod Bagert and The Mayhem Poets.

Hopefully, it won't snow on our parade (creative writers here at Lafayette know how to take a good idiom and make it their own)!

So bang on the drum and stomp your feet;
We have poetry to read and poets to meet!

  1. Hi- I love the way poetry makes me feel. When I read this poem... I wanted to tap my feet or leap like a lightning bolt. Wow, what a great feeling. This poem is filled with visual images as well. I wonder if any of the Lafayette students will want to draw pictures of Eve Merriam's poem? What a great way to decorate the Lafayette School hallways!
